• New short story going well

I am so over the moon with how well the new short story, Raven and the Sea Dragon is doing, it is getting plenty of views and likes, which is making me very happy and confident to find a publisher for the novel which is a completely different story but involves the same characters.

The short story I am currently posting on Penana and wattpad is to mainly find out how people take to something that is heavily influenced by my youth of playing far too much Dungeon and Dragons, Baldur's gate and reading lots of Forgotten Realms novels. It is something I have been wanting to do long before I chose to become a writer, but lacked the confidence to give it a go. Until now with D&D being popular and myself getting back into it, I thought this is the perfect time to introduce my fans and fellow fantasy readers to the world of Fin. A place where elves are nearly existent, and as a result the dwarfs and a species known as the Vern are primarily in charge of the towns. Where magic was once out-ruled and is only used these days by the Dark Elves, Snow Elves and the Vern who can all perform what is classed as Combined Magic which is considered by a lot of outsiders as highly dangerous. The main character Raven puts this down to peoples lack of knowledge of magic and an irrational fear of change.

I have been enjoying bringing this odd world to life and I am considering making the short story around five chapters long as it gives me chance to put what didn’t make it in to novel, otherwise it would have been far too big, into the short. I also hope it continues to gain in popularity.

I should also mention the cover was done by Kareem A on fiverr, I really like it as it is in my view a homage to some of the book covers of Drizzt, which are not exactly right and I know my fellow fans of that series will know what I mean. I do though have another one in the making but it is going to be a while before it is up.

  • New story in the making

It has been a long time since I have posted anything, so I thought I would give an update.

I am currently working on a story that is completely different and I have been enjoying every moment of it. It has nothing to do with the Master Shǒuwèi series. All I am going to say it is a fantasy story based around something I have always enjoyed and now the series has become poplar again is why I have decided to do it. However, I am trying to make it clear the story is kind of inspired by the series. I have been posting some things on twitter to do with what I have put into the story so far like rings and crystals. I am busy wrapping up the ending and then I will be going through it as it has grown into over 320 page novel. Yikes! That makes it in book form 730 pages. I think I could split it up into bite size books and perhaps make it in to a trilogy or saga. That way I can see what people make of the first book. However, I am also thinking about posting a short on Penana and Wattpad to see how that goes first before I take the plunge and publish this epic I have made. I will keep you all posted.

  • It's been a while

I am currently working on Yūrei Samurai: Search for the lost king which is the third book in the series. I am also in the process of moving all my stories from booknet to Wattpad. This is because booknet is no longer showing them and quite often the links to the stories are broken, which is not good.

The stories on Wattpad are my other fantasy stories that have nothing to do with the Master Shǒuwèi series. It is nice to get them where they can be viewed without any trouble. I will be updating the Other Stories website to include all the new links and hopefully everything works without no problems. I am planning, once I have finished Search for the lost king to carry on with the following stories Gerald the great: Odd request (Inspired by The Witcher) and Detective Wāng: Forgotten case

  • Things are getting better

Since my last post things with my dad are getting better, I am managing to get in to a kind of routine. Which is great as I have been able to write Yūrei Samurai series, which I think started out great, but now has lost its way. This is because I have been ill with a nasty virus for over a week and was not able to work. Since going back to it I just cannot remember what I was going to do with the story. Hopefully once I have read through the second book it might come back to me and hopefully I will be able to complete it. This is the problem of having to put everything on hold whilst I recover and I have to say, I am still not 100% better, I still get a fussy head from time to time and sometimes feeling quite unwell. It really is an awful little virus, coughing and just want to sleep all the time is really annoying. Fingers crossed I am over the worse of it and I start getting back to my normal self.

In other news I am pleased to see that A Lost Kingdom is now up to 8.4k views on webnovel, I would like to remind everyone the full book is available through the other stories website. It is available on google play, ibooks and kindle.

  • My hands are tied

I thought I had best write a blog to in form you all of what has been happening and only been publishing short stories. Since the passing of my mum I have been taking care of my dad, who sadly has not got long to live. As you can image most of my time is taken up with looking after him. We are currently only getting cares in first thing in the morning to help dad get washed and dressed. Then the next visit is not until lunchtime. The rest of the time it is down to me, this is why I am not just physically tired, I am also mentally drained and struggling to not only to write but also play games. I hope things will improve when my dad’s new long term care comes in. For now I will carry on as best I can and do what I can, when I can and hopefully continue to get just little stories out. I am also trying to keep choose your own adventure going on Facebook going. Anyone is welcome to join in and begin a new game at any time.
